She listens without judgment.
She’s a friendly face during tough times.
She’s like an old family friend.
Those are just a few of the things customers say about Holly, the manager of a Check `n Go store in Boise, Idaho. Whether it’s helping someone get from one payday to the next, helping with a utility bill or just being there to listen, Holly is passionate about taking care of her customers.
Holly began her Check `n Go career as a Customer Service Representative six years ago. Serving in several Idaho stores, she has grown into her current Store Manager role. What does she love most about her job? The people – and the fact that no two days are ever the same. Although Holly has countless memories of times she’s been able to help customers, two in particular stand out.
Help when life happens
A loyal Check `n Go customer since 2011, John* had three children in college. He was saving up for a fourth child to start school the next year. When his furnace broke down, he dropped by Holly’s store to apply for a loan.
After the loan was approved, Holly recalls what John said to her: “You know, you’ve helped us put tires on cars, do car repairs, replace a hot water heater, and move kids across the state. We even had a few extra dollars at times and now you’re helping with the furnace.” He went on to say that Holly was almost like a part of his family, but his eyes started to well up with tears and he had to excuse himself. Holly says he came back about 20 minutes later and told her, “You guys really don’t know how much we appreciate you. Really.”
A safety net when tragedy strikes
Holly has also built a relationship with Tom*, a loyal customer since 2012. One day, Tom came to the store in tears. He’d just received word about a tragedy in his family and he needed to travel to where it had happened. The last thing he wanted to worry about was cash, and he knew that Check `n Go was his safe place. Toni, a Customer Service Representative at the store, helped him apply for a loan. They cried together through the process.
A week later, Tom came back to the store to thank Toni and Holly. He told them, “While my wife was packing that morning for us to leave, the only thing I didn’t have to worry about was money.” Later that year, Tom came back for a small loan so he and his wife could go on a much-needed getaway.
When she’s not serving customers, Holly’s passionate nature extends to other parts of her life. She enjoys spending free time with family and friends. She fills her free hours to the max with gardening, crafting, cooking, outdoor sports, music, dancing, restoring cars and more. She’ll even jump on the back of her neighbor’s Harley for a day trip. “If it’s a hoot, I’m in,” she says. With that kind of passion for life, it’s no wonder that Holly is appreciated by her customers – and the entire Check `n Go team!
