Have you ever known someone who was going through a difficult time? Maybe they lost a loved one, were dealing with a sick family member, or were unemployed and struggling to make ends meet. It can be easy in such a hectic world to just send those people a thoughtful message, or funds to help them in their time of need. But what if they need more than just that? That’s where giving your time to others or a charitable cause can be just as helpful, if not more than sending money. 

Here at Check `n Go, we find it to be so important to give back time through volunteering that we offer our employees paid time off each year to get out into their communities. Throughout this year alone our team has donated hundreds of hours to different charitable organizations such as Matthew 25: Ministries, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Make a Wish Foundation, and so many more. We want to continue to encourage not only our team but the public as well to donate time to these amazing groups.

Donating time to help your community out not only helps the people around you, but in the end, it’s going to help you out too! For example, if you donated time to work on a community garden that not only will help those who might be struggling to afford fresh produce, but it’s going to help beautify your community as well. And you’re also helping someone who was down on their luck get back to where they need to be, and eventually, they’re going to be able to get back into the community and give back. It's all a cycle and at times you may be the one giving back, and at others, you may be the one receiving the help. 

It's also important to remember that without volunteers, these groups can’t function. They rely on free help to get things organized and keep things moving to help those who need it the most. So, you might be wondering, “how can I help out my community?”. The easiest way is to do a simple internet search for “volunteer opportunities near me”, and you will be able to find all sorts of different groups with unique needs. And don’t forget, there’s a volunteer group for everyone out there. For example, if you’re someone who can’t leave the home you can volunteer your time teaching children to read via the internet. Or if you have a very hectic schedule there are volunteer groups who are able and willing to work with your ever-changing schedule to find you a role within their organization.

Always remember that there’s a place for everyone to help and you just have to find out what works best for you.
